The Fort Adelaide is one of four surviving fortresses on the island. Built between 1830 and 1840. It received its name in honor of the wife of King William IV of Great Britain. The fort structure, built from huge basalt blocks, dominates the city, located on top of a hill that is located at an altitude of 240 meters above sea level. Inside the fortress, there are mysterious tunnels, huge open rooms, halls, one of which houses an exhibition of cannons. By climbing one of the stairs to the observation decks,you can enjoy a beautiful view of the capital, the hills. the cargo port, the hippodrome and the ocean.
