Port Louis Race Track

This racecourse was founded in 1812 and, today, is the second oldest racecourse in the world. It was here that the independence of Mauritius was declared in 1968. The racing season lasts approximately from mid-April to the end of November. Jockeys and horses come mainly from South Africa and Australia. Horse racing held in our time meets all international standards and is the most popular sport in the country
