Built in 1785 by King Rama I to enshrine the Emerald Buddha statue, The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) is Thailand’s most sacred Buddhist temple, located within the Grand Palace in Bangkok, richly decorated with golden spires, intricate mosaics, and mythical guardian statues. Unlike other temples, Wat Phra Kaew is not a monastery, there is no monks residing there as it served historically as the royal chapel for Thai kings. It provides visitors a blend of sacred devotion, dazzling architecture, and cultural heritage.
