The Intharawihan Temple is located in the heart of Bangkok, near the Rama VIII Bridge. The temple's main feature is the 32-meter-tall Buddha statue called Luang Pho or "Pra Ammiretray" (Maitreya). Construction of the statue lasted 60 years, from 1867 to 1927. In 1982, for the 200th anniversary of the founding of Bangkok, the image was updated and decorated with Italian gold mosaic. The statue is gilded with 24-karat gold.
