Founded in 1824 during the reign of King Rama III by Mahasakti Pol Sep, the viceroy, Wat Bowonniwet Vihara is one of Bangkok’s most important royal temples, deeply tied to Thai kingship and the Dhammayuttika Nikaya Buddhist order.
