La Vanile Park is located in the south of the island and covers 3.5 hectares. This reserve, created in 1985, has the largest colony of turtles in the world. It is home to 1,000 individuals, including Domino, which is one of the largest and oldest turtles in the world. It is also home to 2,000 Nile crocodiles, which can be observed in various stages of growth. Monkeys, deer, bats, geckos are just a few of the many animals inhabiting the reserve. Some of them were brought from the island of Madagascar and the Seychelles. Another attraction of the reserve is the insectarium, which houses a collection of 23,000 species of insects. Some specimens are very rare and valuable, and also long extinct. There is also a fossil museum in the park, where you can get acquainted with a collection of ammonites, skeletons of various ancient animals and the history of marine mammals. While staying in the reserve, you can try crocodile meat dishes at a local restaurant, as well as participate in other activities.
