The Seven Colored Sands are a famous landmark in Mauritius. The sands, consisting of seven different colors, are located in different layers and have very clear boundaries. It is noteworthy that, despite strong tropical rains and winds, they do not mix with each other. This phenomenon is also observed on a small scale; if you mix two handfuls of sand of different shades, they will still be separated along the color spectrum. It is believed that the difference in colors is a consequence of the cooling of volcanic rocks at different temperatures. But researchers have not yet fully solved the mystery of colored sands. The seven-colored sands, with their extraordinary beauty, evoke thoughts of other planets and give the local landscape a complete sense of unreality and surrealism.
